1. Considered structures

We only consider the bridge inverters supplying:

  • either a single-phase load
  • either a tri phased load, triangle or star-balanced, with the null isolated.

For these inverters, every access terminal of the load is connected to two semiconductor switches, one allowing to connect the load to the positive terminal of the DC source, the other allowing to connect the load to the negative terminal of this source (figure 1).

The switches Kj and K¢j form an arm of the inverter.

  • A single-phase bridge inverter consists of two arms (figure 2)

  • A tri phased bridge inverter consists of three arms (figure 3)
