Indirect converters

For the indirect converters, the semiconductor switches do not join directly the terminals of the generator to the terminals of the receiver. It is used an intermediate storage circuit (figure 1).

There are two sets of switches, one that joins the generator to the intermidiate circuit, and another one that joins the intermediate circuit to the receiver.

The intermediate circuit stores all, or a part of the energy furnished by the generator before transmitting it to the receiver. But the problems of choosing the semiconductors and their command are the same encountered at the direct converters.
